Bots Galore!

Scribble Bots and Bristle Bots in Year 2!

This year, our Year 2 students have taken their Technology and Design skills to the next level with an exciting engineering project. After learning all about electrical circuits last year, we extended our knowledge by exploring how circuits can power motors. This opened the door to designing and making our very own Scribble Bots and Bristle Bots!

The students investigated how motors work, experimented with connecting components, and discovered how the direction of spinning or vibration can change the movement of a robot. They used this understanding to plan, build, and refine their bots—adding colourful pens, creative bodies, and clever design features to bring each robot to life.

The workroom buzzed with excitement as the Scribble Bots wiggled around paper leaving colourful trails, and the Bristle Bots scurried around using simple but effective motor-powered motion. Through hands-on experimentation, the children developed problem-solving skills, creativity, and a growing confidence with STEM concepts.

We’re incredibly proud of their curiosity, teamwork, and perseverance. Year 2 has truly shown that young engineers can achieve amazing things!
